I remember meeting her at Felidia, one of the restaurants she owns in NY. She was so gracious, and came up to out table to introduce herself and ask how our meal was. I was like a silly fan, grinning from ear to ear.
This time, I grabbed all 4 of my Lidia recipe books and shoved them in a backpack. My daughter and I donned our Wellies, and traipsed through the rain to Carlino's. I didn't have to wait long before she signed all four books (which I will give as gifts) and talked to me and my daughter. Kiddo was amazed that she was talking to someone she knew from TV.
Here she is! Love this special lady.

Love Lidia. I met her about 12 yrs ago at a food fest. She still won't stop calling me. "Sorry Lidia. It was just one night. Please move on."

I haven't caught her show. I'll have to set the DVR to hunt for it. It already mines PBS for America's Test Kitchen for me.

It's cool you got to do this, Lana was there about 3 hours before she got there, and was wondering what all the hubbub was about, now she really regrets not having a chance to check it out!
Over the years we have become very fond of Lidia and her shows, books, videos, recipes and restaurants. We love Lidia, although we never met her. Recently we ordered her new line of serving platters and pitchers thru QVC as they looked beautiful on TV. They came promptly, but we were very disppointed to see that they were made in China and not Italy. I think this takes away from Lidia's class and her true Italian heritage. I hope she reconsiders changing vendors for an Italian one who will pay due honors to our Lidia.
